There really is nobody quite like Ted Gushue. I would describe Ted as a "man of sort-of-leisure." He works hard ?really hard, in fact ?but at the kinds of things that most probably wouldn't consider work at all. Ted is currently something of a nomad, traveling the world taking pictures with his Leica M10, driving the coolest cars from nearly ever era of automotive history, and helping brands reach new audiences. To say Ted's got a dream job would be something of an understatement.
I've known Ted for five or six years now, having first met him in New York City back when he was running online media for Grand Life Hotels. After that he launched Supercompressor for Thrillest Media and then moved out to LA to run Petrolicious, always the onwards-and-upwards type. Although he's plenty funny and plenty charming, you want to listen closely when Ted gets going ?just when you think another punchline is coming, he'll catch you totally off guard with some little bit of wisdom that you didn't expect. During one of his recent trips back to New York we were able to get Ted and our founder, Ben Clymer, into the studio to talk about traveling the world, modern media companies, and living that bucket list lifestyle.

ADVERTISEMENT Wrist CheckSo, this is a HODINKEE Radio first. Ted didn't walk into the studio with this Replica Rolex "Kermit" Submariner on his wrist. No, that would be way too normal. Instead, Ted purchased the watch, had it shipped to me at HODINKEE HQ, and texted me that morning, about an hour after the mystery package arrived, asking me to please bring it to our recording session. This is one he's wanted for a long time and it was awesome watching him try it on, look down at it, smile up at Ben and me, look down again, and so on. I'd be surprised if this thing has come off his wrist much at all since that day.
